Samsung permanently scraps Note 7 production

Samsung has permanently scrapped the production of it’s Galaxy Note 7 after numerous reports of the devices catching fire. With one device emitting smoke in a cabin of a domestic flight in the US, causing an evacuation of the entire plane. After an investigation, Samsung found the cause was an issue within the battery cell of the device.

“We recently re-adjusted the production volume for thorough investigation and quality control, but putting consumer safety as top priority, we have reached a final decision to halt production of Galaxy Note 7s,” the company said.

The Note 7 was originally set to be released in the UK on September 2nd 2016, but Samsung took the decision to halt sales after flaming reviews from the rest of the world. If you do have the Note 7, we highly recommend you back up your data, then switch the phone off immediately and do not charge it. Any owners of the Note 7 will be able to return the phone for a refund or exchange it for the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge with a refund for the difference in price included.
