BlackBerry has released it’s latest flagship and third Android phone, the DTEK60. Similarly to it’s predecessor the DTEK50, the DTEK60 is an all-touch device with the customisable BlackBerry Convenience key, allowing you to launch any apps or functions you want it to, and mutes calls during an active phone call. However instead of using a textured plastic back, the DTEK60 sports a premium glass finish. With a 5.5″ scratch-resistant AMOLED display with a Quad HD resolution, the DTEK60 offers an impressive pixel density of around 534ppi (pixels per inch), 4x the amount the pixels of a standard HDTV. Better yet, the display features a specialized Oleophobic coating to protect against fingerprint smudges and because the display is AMOLED, it delivers richer colours and deeper black levels with less power consumption. The DTEK60 also offers the BlackBerry Intelligent Keyboard, designed to learn from you and increase your typing accuracy and speed. The smart keyboard learns and provides word suggestions as you type, that include up to 3 languages of your choice, letting you flick them into place for faster conversations.
The DTEK60 runs a version of Android with BlackBerry’s custom launcher, keyboard and Hub on top. Giving you several benefits of BlackBerry’s old operating system including it’s renowned security software and the BlackBerry Hub, and all the benefits of having an Android phone, including the Google Play store and marshmallow’s features. When it comes to the security, the DTEK60 offers you both control and visbility of your privacy. Equipped with the DTEK™ from BlackBerry® for Android™ app, your OS and apps will be monitored, and you’ll be informed when your security could be risk and be given advice on how you can take action to improve it. Your applications are also tracked, with notifications when someone is taking pictures or videos without your knowledge, turning your microphone on, sending a text message, or accessing your contacts or location. Taking security up another notch, the DTEK60 comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor for unlocking your device, accessing Password keeper and making purchases – including those made through Android Pay.
Finally, the DTEK60 sports a 8MP selfie camera with LED flash and a 21MP auto-focus rear camera, a large improvement from the previous DTEK50’s 13MP rear camera.
