Fewer than half of consumers are taking advantage of the broadband speeds available – are you?

Communication is at the heart of every business. Ensuring you can sell your goods and services, connect to your customers, deal with suppliers and manage your workforce. At CMM, we understand reliable and high quality broadband and mobile connections are vital for our customers to successfully run their business, and for some digital enterprises, actually deliver their services or products.

In January 2018, the government announced it had hit it’s connectivity target, with 10 out of 20 households and businesses now with access to ultrafast broadband connectivity. Yet only 38 percent of the population are taking advantage of the superfast broadband available to them, with the majority still using ADSL lines without feeling the need to upgrade (Ofcom).

Just 38% of the population are taking advantage of superfast broadband

We offer a variety of connectivity solutions, ranging from ADSL to private circuits, to ensure you receive a tailored plan that will optimise your telecoms infrastructure, according to your budget and needs. Most importantly, we want you to be aware of the newer technology that is available, to ensure your business is benefiting from recent advances and running as productively as possible.

Are you due an upgrade?

To determine whether opting for an upgraded solution would benefit you, you may wish to consider the following:

  1. Do you use your broadband at the same time as other people in your office or site?
  2. Download large online files on a regular basis?
  3. Upload videos and other large files to the web?
  4. Use Cloud or video-calling services such as Skype?
  5. Offer Wi-Fi to customers?
  6. Rely on the internet as a vital tool to run your business?

Alternatively, you can read our quick guide below about the recommended solutions for different business needs.

ADSL:

ADSL operates on a standard analogue phone line to your premises, to offer speedy and secure internet access. Although download and uploads speeds are a long way behind Fibre to the Cabinet, ADSL is suitable for businesses that are unable to receive FTTC internet or that just need the internet as a basic tool for activities such emailing, placing orders online or blogging.

✓ Ideal for small business’s looking for a cost-effective, basic use solution.

Fibre to the Cabinet:

FTTC involves running fibre optic cables from the telephone exchange or distribution point to the street cabinets which then connect to a standard phone line to provide broadband. This is combined with a copper cable from the cabinet to the business that can deliver much faster speeds over shorter distances. Benefits include file download and upload in seconds, improving the use of multi-media and conferencing facilities. Along with increased productivity with no delay’s online, FTTC can also lower call costs by taking advantage of VoIP delivered over Fibre.

✓ Ideal for business’s requiring a fast connection to the internet or services such as video conferencing, IP Voice and Cloud services.

Leased Lines/Private Circuits:

A Leased Line is a dedicated connection to the internet with guaranteed upload and download speeds, SLAs and an uncontended connection. This means that your internet speeds won’t be affected by your neighbours usage. Although still relatively expensive compared to FTTC, prices for your own dedicated connection have reduced dramatically in recent times. There are many different variants of private connection, which we would be happy to talk through with you.

✓ Ideal for businesses requiring a fast connection with guaranteed speeds, and quick response times for faults.
