iPhone 6K Concept

iPhone 6K Concept

Would you like your iPhone to have a keyboard? Concept designers have put together a rather unique variant of the iPhone – the iPhone 6K. The model would not be an iPhone 7 but the iPhone 6S with a K(eyboard).

iPhone 6K Concepts

The design focuses on the keyboard sliding out via the push of a button. Allowing you to swap between Apple’s original iOS touch screen and a Blackberry-style, backlit QWERTY keyboard – available in black or white.

Whether or not the 6K will move from a concept to a reality is unknown, but the new design could open up the Apple customer base to QWERTY fans.

How to use Find My iPhone in iOS 9

How to use Find My iPhone in iOS 9

Firstly, why use Find My iPhone?

You’ll be able to track your Apple device to it’s current location when misplaced,

And have the ability to remotely wipe all your data if you fear your handset has been stolen,

Better yet, it’s completely free and easy to set up with our guide below.

Getting started

Find My iPhone uses Apple’s iCloud to store and sync data, to check this is switched on, head to Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone.

BeFunky Collage

Downloading the app

Head to the App store and search for ‘Find My iPhone’, the App will automatically show you the locations of any devices using your Apple ID, as-long as they have Find My iPhone activated. Once the app is installed, launch it and you’ll be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID, and then you’ll be shown a map with your devices listed.

Adjusting your settings

Once installed, you’ll be prompted with a few settings options. Turning on ‘Send Last Location’ is useful as normally when an iPhone is turned off or is out of power, the Find My iPhone feature cannot work as there is not a signal being sent from the device – however by turning this setting on you’ll be able to locate your iPhone even if the battery’s drained.

Using the Find My iPhone actions

  • Play Sound: Tapping this icon will cause your iPhone to beep loudly, making it easier to find if you’ve lost it around the house or office or even if you’re having trouble tracking it down when you reach the location on the Map.
  • Lost Mode: This mode allows you to enter a pass-code to remotely lock your device, preventing anyone who could find your iPhone gaining access to your private data. You can unlock it using the same code when you recover your device.
  • Erase iPhone: Tapping this will wipe all the data from your device and should only be used in emergency cases where you think your phone’s been stolen, or has particularly sensitive information stored. As this deletes all information, including your Apple ID, your device will disappear from your Find My iPhone list once pressed.

If you don’t have another Apple device to use Find My iPhone from, you can use the iCloud website (https://www.icloud.com/) which gives you access to Find My iPhone, alongside other features such as iWork apps, Mail, Calendar and iCloud Drive. To use it, simply log in with your Apple ID, launch the Find My iPhone app and you’ll see a map with the location of your device displayed. Click the green dot and you’ll see the same three options presented to you on the app: Play Sound, Lost Mode and Erase iPhone or iPad.

What is M2M?

What is M2M?

Introducing ‘Machine to Machine’ technology

M2M is an exchange of data between a connected device and a central system that monitors or controls that device. It allows machines to communicate directly with each other to convey information, for example – a smart refrigerator could automatically order groceries from Tesco’s once it’s inventory is depleted.

Did you know?

  • M2M is also known as the ‘internet of things‘,
  • Connectivity options for M2M include cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, network cables and more,
  • M2M is a green technology because so many of it’s solutions reduce energy consumption significantly,
  • M2M can be applied to many new types of products and will drive many of the future most-wanted applications in the consumer space,

But most importantly, M2M is fast becoming a must-have technology for many businesses that want to remain competitive.

How can M2M help your business?

With M2M you can take advantage of real-time data, remote monitoring and analytics. For example, receive information on:

✓ How a remote asset in your business is performing, even down to the detail of it’s temperature and minimise the need for routine maintenance visits. But better yet, catch problems before they could affect your customers.

✓ Where something is, allowing you to recover lost assets and prevent thefts.

Overall, M2M can help you increase profitably, launch new products and services, improve your customer relations and allow your business to become more agile and responsive.

Callmaster Mobile will soon be offering M2M technology via dedicated sims that will connect over mobile networks. To find out more, please contact your account manager or check the blog for updates.

It’s also expected that an iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be released, offering Apple fans a choice between a smaller and larger iPhone – while a slim headphone plug patent taken out by Apple suggests the body will be thinner than ever before by cutting down the connector. Finally, rumours suggest the iPhone 7 may have the home screen button removed entirely, focusing solely on touch and 3D capabilities.
